What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is the application of hypnosis as a means of treatment for various health and emotional issues.

It is a naturally occuring altered state of consciousness in which part of your brain that controls conscious critical analysis shuts down,

and becomes willing to accept  new suggestion. Naturally, our brain is changing brain wave frequency throughout the day and during our sleep.

In different brain wave frequencies the mind becomes more receptive to changes that a person is wanting to make for example,

about the way they act, patterns of thinking, beliefs they may have about themselves, or emotions from past events.

How can hypnotherapy help?

Hypnotherapy can assist with many different physical, emotional and psychological symptoms.

Our minds work on two levels – the conscious mind and the subconscious. We make decisions, think, analyse with our conscious mind.

Sometimes we try and make changes in our life just through will power and determination. This is using just the conscious mind and does not always work.

To make poweful sustained changes we can reinforce these wanted ideas and new habits by using both parts of our brain.

The unconscious mind controls our beliefs about ourselves and therefore strongly influences how we act. In the relaxed state of hypnosis

we can communicate directly with the unconscious mind. New ideas can be suggested that enable people to change their behaviour and

the processes that are occurring within their body. The client is aware of their surroundings and remembers the process but is  more receptive

to new ideas. Some examples of how hypnotherapy can help:

  • Addictions and unwanted habits
  • Weight loss
  • Fears and phobias
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Stress
  • Pain management
  • Hypnobirthing
  • Sleep
